This was an extremely productive week where our whole team, in Jeremy's words, was oscillating highly (which is a good thing). We progressed towards the completed 3D animatic for next week (aka our next Production Pass presentation) which is a good feeling.
I finished the main character model. This includes normal maps from ZBrush, UVing, and modeling. This character is ready for shading and rigging! I'm now finalizing the hair in ZBrush/Maya, which will be ready by next Friday.
I found an amazing and quick tutorial for creating normal maps from high-poly meshes in ZBrush with Substance Painter which ended up working great! I have an idea for how to increase the level of detail in the final model (exporting a subdivided base mesh from ZBrush instead of the lowest version), but that's not a priority right now - my goal is to get this thing done ASAP.
Considering multiple characters, our stylized shading will do a great job in being able to differentiate between them and morphing faces without morphing geo - I'd love to do a quick demo for that if there's time (It wouldn't take too much time since the character is already UVed).

I feel good about where we are going as a team, however, a more robust schedule would be beneficial - especially now that we have a better idea of the number of shots/level of difficulty our short is going to have. I'm waiting on a bidding spreadsheet, but if I need to wait any longer I'm going to attack making my own.
Regarding sound design, Jay has a connection who might be able to help us. I have noticed that they might be a bit difficult to find time with (hopefully that won't be an issue in the future), but a meeting with them and our group will be taking place next week! I created a list of inspiring sound choices that could help our sound guide - Glassworks - 02, Floe by Philip Glass is on the top of that list. This would also be an amazing choice to end the piece with. I am curious about copyright and how that ties into student films.
