Once visual concepts begin coming together, suddenly the project has life. This week, character and environment sheets were our goal.

For the princes' story, the first iterations of both the main princes were created. I was in charge of their character concepts and decided that their bases (body type and face designs), relative suits of armor, and weapons were most important. For the pitch on November 7th, I think the most important thing to sell to the rest of my student body is the visuals. Without them, people have no idea what we have in mind.

Light Prince

Dark Prince

Inspired by concepts done for Brave and How to Train Your Dragon, both princes are distinguished by opposites. One light, and one dark; both competing with each other for the princess.

For the sculpt story, I was responsible for the piece's environment mood board. Aiming for an old-French aesthetic, a dark and cluttered workspace for the sculptor was the main focus.

This piece has a major tone shift halfway through and you can see that with the light atmosphere at the beginning, and then transforming into something sinister for the second part.

Animatic storyboards are also in the process for both stories, and the first iterations of scripts are complete. Concepts are still being developed for the sculpt short's characters and the prince short's environment by other team members.
